  20. I just bought a no name 486DX motherboard and replaced it with my
  21. original IBM AT 286 motherboard. To my surprise eveything went well.
  22. I haden't expected the upgrade to be without a problem, since
  23. IBM hardware isn't always as compatible as IBM clones :-)
  24. Even the original Drive Controller funktions (allthough I had
  25. to modify the pin connectors). The only hassle I had, was to
  26. install a reset button and a turbo switch, which are not present
  27. on a 286AT3.

  29. I didn't want to spent a lot of money for the upgrade cause I
  30. wasn't sure the upgrade would work. My expenses for the 486: 600 $!

  32. So you see, you shouldn't have any problems, except that you'll
  33. probably need to buy SIMMs for the new board.
