- Subject: UPS for 486/33
-
- >>I'm making a cursory investigation into a UPS suitable for my Gateway

- Get an American Power Conversion Back-UPS 450. This is a very high quality
- unit, very reliable, UL approved (unlike some Tripp-Lite models), and is
- not expensive ( $189 in Computer Shopper). This is a quasi-square unit,
- which is fine for computer switching power supplies, has built-in line
- filtering, looks good, etc.
-
- If you really want sine-wave, APC has the Smart-UPS 450, but this will
- cost more (around $399) and is not really necessary, although the unit
- is flat (fits under the monitor) and acts like a power director. It
- also has a serial port that you can hook up to your computer to see
- whats going on with the power line and to control the UPS.
