  14.     I have a 286 based computer which is about 3 years old.  I've added
  15. a Maxtor 1720 120meg IDE harddrive.  First my CMOS doesn't have the proper
  16. setting for the drive, so I picked the closest thing to it, 918 cyl 15 hds,
  17. this makes me kind of nervous. So is there anyway to work around this so I
  18. don't have to upgrade my BIOS?  A device driver would be nice.  Second, does
  19. this drive have any on board cache?  If so what does the drive do when the 
  20. system is idle?  The reason I ask is because every so often I hear something
  21. faint that sounds like the disk is reading something.  Could that be the on 
  22. board cache or my goofy CMOS settings?
