- hello,
-
- i've just got 2 IDE hardrives both Conners cp3104 (100 MG) and cp3204 (200 MG).
- i can connect either one to the controller as drive 1 (3104 type 31)
- or (3204 type 47) and no boot problems. if i try hooking both to the
- controller as disks 1 and 2 with appropriate CMOS types, i get a
- controller failure, regardless of which i have as drive 1 or 2.
-
- i was told by someone they must be the same drive from the same
- manufacture, however, i've read about other postings of people that
- have more than 1 IDE on a PC. what's the deal?
-
- also, i partitioned my 3104 (100 mg) to have a 30mg DOS (5.0) partition,
- and 70mg for other. However due to the BIOS type 31, fdisk think the
- disk is only 41MG leaving only 11 meg. How is this problem delt with?
- How are CMOS configurations modified. Also, i've heard of a program
- called IDEINFO.EXE, where can this be found? i've asked archie, and
- searched around wuarchive to no avail. I guess my questions are
- as follows.
-
- 1) Where can i find good info on IDE drives?
-
- 2) How to get multiple IDE drives off one controller?
-
- 3) How do IDE drives and BIOS types relate?
-
- 4) Where can i find IDEINFO.EXE?
-
-
- Thanks in advance for any answers to these questions.
