- I would like to verify the following. Given a harddisk with those
- characteristics:
-
- average seek 12 ms
- track to track seek 3 ms
- transfer rate 530 k/s seconds
- storage 200 Mb
- brand BT BRAND
-
- would I be wrong to exspect the transfer rate to be 800k/s or up?
- The disk is IDE btw. I have a 85 Mb seagate that does 865k/s
- and have seen several others that all have a transfer rate of 800k
- and up, all with seek times of 16ms or more. Figures are btw all
- reported be Norton SI.
- Appart from this it also makes an annoying squeeking sound at startup
- and continually exhibits a high pitched noise while operating.
- If someone can assure me this is entirely normal or opposite, I would
- like to hear as soon as possible since I would have to go back
- first thing tomorrow.
-
- Thanks
- Erik
