- I recently went through this, so the following may help.
- I use DRDOS 6.0 (I have no idea what you are using) with DELWATCH active
- (deleted files are only marked for deletion, but are protected from being
- overwritten until DELPURGE is run). I managed to hang my system during a
- purge and had to reset. DELPURGE screwed up the FAT. Norton Disk Doctor
- (version 5.0) would fix it, but DELPURGE would immediately screw it up
- again and hang trying to get rid of a file.
-
- #1 - I hope you took advantage of NDD's suggestion to create an UNDO file
- when you told it to go ahead and fix the bad FAT.
- (I didn't need it, but it is good insurance.)
-
- #2 - what solved my problem was to use Norton's UnErase to recover the file
- that DELPURGE kept hanging on (it was erased).
-
- #3 - I erased the file again after recovering it.
-
- #4 - I double checked the disk again with NDD.
-
- #5 - I ran DELPURGE again, this time without a problem; and NDD again, also
- without a problem.
-
- (You might also want to take a look at Norton SysInfo to check your CMOS;
- and DiskTool to make a rescue diskkette).
