- Nice try - my modem didn't even blink.

- To follow up on my problem:
- I found that the text "NO CARRIER" starting in the first column, all caps.,
- was the culprit. My software read this as if it were one of the verbal result
- codes sent from the modem, and reacted as if the carrier was lost!!
- Pretty lame, I admit. (I'm using BITCOM). This is not a problem with the
- Terminal applet in Windows.

- When I first realized that Tapio's .sig caused me problems, I suspected that
- he might have known that this would happen to some people.
- My apologies to Tapio if this was not your intention!!
- Based on the replies, no one else has experienced this - so I'll deal with my
- software appropriately - and take my foot out of my mouth!
