- It depends on what type/brand Sun monitor you have. I know of
- two from Hitachi that Sun uses. HM-3619 and HM-4619 were common. They
- both have seperate or combined sync on green. The video card for the
- HM-4619 must be able to drive about 100MHz. The HM-4619-**A-* is a
- 1280 x 1024 w/ H 61-65KHz and V 55-65Hz non multi-sync. The
- HM-4619-*-*C-* is 1024 x 768 w/ H 48-52KHz and V 55-65Hz. The sync
- signals are External (HV mixed sync) or composite on green. You
- will have to look at your video card to make sure which one it is.
- Above, Mike says RGB+combined sync. This means all he has to do is
- grab the "red" output from his card and stick it into "red" on his
- monitor using a BNC connector with ground connected. The pinouts
- of a 15 pin should be in the video card user's manual. Also, the
- rest of the signals should be tied using BNC connectors. So, the
- key to the situation is to make sure your video card can drive the
- monitor before going out and buying a cable (or making your own).
- There are very few cards out there that will drive the 4619. They
- are in the 1000's $$ range. There is one card I know of that will
- drive it and cost $290. It runs a stretched 75MHz Tseng at 120MHz.
