- Hi All
-
- I finally took the plunge and am replacing my 360K 5.25 drive with a
- 1.44 Meg 3.5" drive. I have a 1.2Meg 5.25 drive as the A drive. I have
- a problem when trying to make the system recognize the 1.44Meg drive as the
- B drive. The CMOS ( I have a AMI BIOS dated April 9th, 1990 ) keep insisting
- that the B drive is "Not Installed". I do set it to 1.44 Meg 3.5". But after
- the reboot each time, it refuses to acknowledge the B drive.
-
- Here are some more info:
-
- [1] - During the booting process, the A drive's light would come on and it
- would grind for a few seconds in an attempt to read a diskette. Then
- the B drive's light would come on, but no motor movements. Then the
- the hard disk completes the boot process.
-
- [2] - The drive is a Panasonic model JU-257A814P.
-
- [3] - When I attempt to do a "dir b:" it keep asking to place the diskette in
- drive b and then press return. Upon doing so, the A drive is read.
-
- [4] - The switch settings are as follows:
-
- Switch 1: DC
- RY <- This is set
-
- Switch 2: IN
- OUT
- NC <- This is set
-
- Switch 3: DS0
- DS1 <- This is set
- DS2
- DS3
-
- Switch 4: Can't find it
-
- Switch 5: SE <- This is set
- AT
- P2
-
- Switch 6: MO <- This is set
- MS
-
- Are they correct? Am I missing something or is there something wrong with
- the unit?
-
- Any help would be appreciated.
- Thanks in advance.
