  10. I am interested in adapting some lab equipment so that it can be used in
  11. the field.  The system consists of some sensing devices connected to an
  12. IBM 8088 which does some calculations and spits out meaningful info.

  14. My question:  what would be a good low priced, reliable laptop which could
  15. be used for the data acquisition?  As you can tell, sampling speed is not
  16. a high priority.  The current system samples only at about 4 Khz and it works
  17. just fine.

  19. This system will be marketed if it proves to work correctly.  This leads to
  20. my second query:  anyone know anything about how I could approach a company
  21. such as IBM and ask them to donate equipment to the company for development?
  22. I heard that there arre cases where IBM will donate a computer or other
  23. hardware to a fledgling company in exchange for a guarantee of a contract
  24. if the product winds up in the marketplace.
