  14. I'm trying to put together a PC system (mostly for gaming) and I'd like
  15. some opinions on the best way to get good (blazing!?) video performance.  
  16. I'm a bit new to the PC world (coming over from the Amiga domain) so
  17. any advice would be appreciated.

  19. The system I want to get is a 486DX/50 with local bus and some kind of
  20. accelerator card (S3, Tseng, ATI...) but my I gather from the articles
  21. I've read that these are aimed at Windows and require special drivers
  22. that game software doesn't use (flame me if I'm wrong, please!).  If this
  23. is the case, what would be the best way to get optimal video performance 
  24. outside Windows?
