- Well, I have the new manual and when I complained (on the reader opinion card)
- that it wasn't wirebound, I got a call back from their tech pubs department.
- The woman I spoke to told me that they opted for a conventional (book) binding
- because of all the complaints they got AGAINST wirebound manuals (okay, who's
- been complaining about wirebound manuals?). In any case, after assuring me
- that the binding was made with the highest quality polyurethane, and could be
- bent back without risk of pages falling out, she went on to say that the new
- manual is a SIGNIFICANT improvement over the previous two. I'm not sure what
- SIGNIFICANT means, but she indicated that the old manuals were somewhat rushed
- to meet delivery schedules. She also said many of the example programs are new
- or have been rewritten. I must say the manual is quite good, with LOTS of
- programming examples. I'm inclined to believe that the manual is better,
- because a friend of mine (who has the old manuals) has learned about several
- 48 features from me -- and he's had his calculator for more than a year longer.
-
- I guess that's bad news for those who have the old manuals -- perhaps you can
- purchase the new one from HP? (Of course at reasonable HP prices! :)
