- Hi,there
-
- The problem might be because the PC is waiting for a signal
- coming from the HP, I have accountered such problem when directly
- programing a PC with Turbo Pascal and DOS interruptions. The PC is
- waiting for DSR (Data Set Ready) which is used in datacomunication
- purposes and is a signal coming from the DCE (Data Communication
- Equipment) and means that the DTE is ready to receive and transmit
- datas. The PC (DTE Data Terminal Equipment) is providing the DTR
- (Data Terminal Ready) to tell the DCE that it is up and ready for
- communication.
-
- I have also tested file transfer using Kermit and OS/2 and
- same problem arrived. Best way to solve it should be to strap
- pin 20 (DTR) with pin 06 (DSR) on a RS232 cable on the PC side
- and see what is happening.
-
- Goodluck .

- Hi there,
- I have been trying to get my calculator to talk to my pc running os/2 and have
- been having absolutely no luck. So far it is the ONLY thing I haven't been able
- to do under os/2. Here`s the situation I have the serial cable and the MS-Kermit
- that comes in the HP kit. Kermit loads ok but when I try to transfer it locks up
- during or just after the first packet. I usually have to kill the window from
- the Task List. By the way it's a DOS program (shudder).
-
- 1) Is there a difference (?sp) between MS and C kermits?
-
- If so that explains why all the C-kermit programs I've tried don't work. I've
- tried every kermit and communications program I could lay my hands on and they
- all have one of the following problems.
-
- A: It doesn't have kermit protocal
- B: It has kermit and runs in os/2 but will not talk to the HP.
- C: It will not run in os/2.
-
- 2) How about PMTerminal (softerm.exe)?
-
- I've been told that it will talk to an HP, but I can't even get it to start
- so that I can read the help files! To the person I talked to before (forgive
- me I lost your address and name so I'm mumbling in public now) I've tried
- both the new and old com drivers, neither work. When I type "mode comx" is
- does not see com1 (my mouse is on com1) but com2 is just fine. I've tried
- using mode to change the settings, but with no luck.
-
- Basically I`ve tried every setting and configuration my novice, embryonic brain
- can conceive of and nothing works for me. I know it's something I am missing.
- Please some kind soul give me explicit directions on how to do this. I would mos
- prefer to get PMTerm working.
-
- System configuration: 386SX (NEAT motherboard) 8 megs ram
- AMI bios 7-7-91 keyboard controller F
- Standard VGA
- 2 physical hard drives (Maxtor IDE's)
- 2 serial, 1 parallel (1 game not used) ports
-
- Thanks for your time
