  21. There is an upgrade available that in terms of the final result
  22. will do what you want. This upgrade is designed for people
  23. who own a 700/X terminal and wish to upgrade it to a newer
  24. 700/RX. It provides a new base unit (ie. the X terminal
  25. proper). You use the keyboard, mouse, monitor, and cables that
  26. you already have.

  28. Since this upgrade is designed for the older 700/X units
  29. you would get to keep your existing base unit (ie. we
  30. didn't know what to do with the traded in 700/Xs) The 
  31. downside of this is that the price of this upgrade won't 
  32. be quite as low as the price would be if you actually 
  33. returned your baseunit to HP for a credit. In the long run
  34. you may be better off just buying the 19Ga. The (possible)
  35. upside is that you may be able to get keyboards and mice
  36. (not too hard I shouldn't think) and mono monitors (tougher)
  37. and end up with 2 mono and 2 grayscale X terminals.

  39. If you want to check with your sales rep. the part number
  40. you want is C2714A. Don't be put off by the description
  41. of this product as a "Color High-Performance Upgrade"
  42. (which is what it is supposed to be).

  48. P.S. I you do go this route remember to configure the base unit
  49. for the correct monitor. It will appear to work out of the box
  50. but will be configured as it were a color unit.
