  13. Many moons ago, we bought a license for the HP-ized DWB (ditroff).  It's the
  14. same version that's still being used to do man pages, etc. inside hp, I
  15. believe.  The output mechanism runs something like:
  16.   troff source --> troff --> dvi format --> pif format --> pcl --> printer.

  18. It's been a workhorse for us for years, and will continue to be, I'm sure, but
  19. the one thing that's always been missing is a decent X11 previewer.  We've got
  20. an _old_ binary of xproof that works with it, but it does not use the X11 fonts
  21. for display.  Has it's own set of very cruddy fonts.  I've had little luck
  22. building a newer version of xproof or xtroff that recognizes the font format
  23. used by the hp DWB.  Anybody have a working previewer, or better yet, some
  24. tips for hacking on xtroff to get it to recognize the font description info
  25. used in the devPIF font collection?
