  11. People have been asking about the TCP/IP card for LaserJet printers (via
  12. e-mail).  I'll summarize information here.

  14. (US$895.00)  C2059T:  LaserJet IIISi or DesignJet Plotter
  15. (US$895.00)  C2071T:  LJ II, IID, III, or IIID for thin coax
  16. (US$895.00)  C2071S:  LJ II, IID, III, or IIID for twisted-pair

  18. Given one of the above, you must also order one of the following
  19. options.

  21. (US$100.00)  AA0 - 1/4" tape for HP-UX
  22. (US$100.00)  AAH - DAT tape for HP-UX
  23. (US$100.00)  AAV - 1/4" tape for SunOS
  24. (  $0.00  )  1AK - No software tape.

  26. Given the above, you must also order one of the following options.

  37. So, if you order a TCP/IP card for the IIISi that's meant to be used on
  38. a SunOS system in Italy, you'd order C2059T-AAV-ABZ.

  40. Note, the tape contains the drivers and filters needed to install a
  41. master spooler on one system.  If you plan on having multiple master
  42. spoolers, I recommend copying the tape to a system in a permanent store
  43. directory.  To install a master spooler, ftp all files in that directory
  44. to the target system in /usr/lib/hpnp, preserving file structure.  Then
  45. following the installation instructions that come with the tape. You can
  46. do this between HP and SunOS systems, too.  (The data on the tape is the
  47. same, regardless of whether it's in Sun or HP tape format.)

  49. Note, if you want to purchase cards for multiple printers, you only need
  50. to order the tape option once.  Suppose in the Italian example above,
  51. you also want to order a TCP/IP card for the DesignJet plotter and 3
  52. TCP/IP cards for a IIID on twisted-pair, with a mix of HP and SunOS
  53. (Sparc) systems.  The order would then be:

  60. The install tape would be copied onto a SunOS system, and then ftp'ed to
  61. all systems you want to be master spoolers.  You'd follow the
  62. installation structions for installing the master spooler on all desired
  63. systems.  The master spooler can be either HP-UX or SunOS, as long as
  64. the system has ftp access to whatever system you copied the install
  65. tape onto.

  67. If you happen to purchase the JetDirect card without any software, you
  68. may find the card unusable.  You need to purchase the appropriate tape
  69. and format for your systems.  Use the following part numbers when
  70. purchasing the tape without the card.
