- We are looking to migrate our current Apollo DN machines to 700s in the
- next year and want to start looking at printers with ethernet interfaces
- such that they can become common resources for our PC and Unix machines
- without being tied to any specific platform. They could simply sit on
- the net and anyone can get to them. I know LANMAN supports this type of
- printing although we haven't tried it at our site yet, however I was
- curious to know if the 700s would be able to handle this with HP-UX 8.07
- or HP-UX 9.0. So far my printing abilities with HP-UX are limited to
- local printers and those which are attatched either serially or parallel
- to another host, but I haven't printed to a "standalone" printer yet.
- We do not have any 700s yet although we do have 300/400 machines running
- HP-UX (implied by the above experience.)
-
- Let's take the example that we get an HP IIIsi with an ethernet
- interface and a 720, but they are nowhere near each other. How can I
- print out to the IIIsi from the 720 via ethernet?
