  28. Sounds like your yellow pages server is down/unreachable - we had this problem
  29. a LOT, and everytime the NIS server wasn't visible, the machine just gave up
  30. and hung most of the time, and certainly never allowed a console login with
  31. windows, as VUE likes to talk to the network during login for some reason...

  33. Solution ?  well, HPUX 8.x is a little better than 7.x in that (in my 
  34. experience) the machine won't hang during reboot if it can't find a YP server,
  35. but the only fix I could find to stop the machine dying regularly was to use
  36. /etc/resolv.conf for the nameserving stuff, and do away with ypbind completely.
