  12. I'm now setting up a campus email system which requires a large spool
  13. directory (/usr/mail), about 4 - 5 GB.  Our local HP support suggests 
  14. that we can use the Disk Array solution (hardware) which provides data
  15. protection, recovery, and disk striping across several disks.  We wonder
  16. whether the filesystem size limit of 2 GB is a problem, but our HP
  17. support said that that should be okay.  We then buy a Disk Array (6000
  18. series) which consists
  19. of 5 x 1.3GB disks.  When we received the manual, we sure that it can't
  20. overcome the 2GB fs limit !! :(  "Fortunately", we found that there's a
  21. command "sdsadmin" which can create filesystems with max. size of 4GB.
  22. It implements software disk striping, with the help of separate disks of
  23. similar disk types.
  24. We thus use the **logical** disks of the Disk Array in the sdsadmin
  25. command and wish to create a filesystem of 4GB.  However, it fails with
  26. the error message "....disk type hp_C2425D_noreserve not found" (I
  27. forget the exact wordings ...).  It seems that it searches the
  28. /etc/disktab before setting up the disk array.  I think there's no disk
  29. information entry in /etc/disktab for the logical unit of a hardware
  30. Disk Array.

  32. Would anyone pls advise how can I solve this problem, and if there's any
  33. "incompatability" between hardware Disk Array and Software Disk Striping
  34. (SDS) ?
