- I'm using an 8mm Exabyte 8500 tape drive to backup several directories
- across several different machines using fbackup. I was curious to
- know if there is any way to find out how much data I'm actually
- backing up. I know I can determine the _number_ of files I've backed
- up and how long it took, but I want to know how many blocks (or
- megabytes) was actually backed up. This would give me an indication
- of when it is time to start looking at higher capacity, an auto-
- changer mechanism, etc. Right now I'm just looking at the new tapes
- and trying to figure out how far into the tape it got by the
- smoothness of the media on the reel. Not scientific at all.
