  10. I'm using an 8mm Exabyte 8500 tape drive to backup several directories 
  11. across several different machines using fbackup.  I was curious to 
  12. know if there is any way to find out how much data I'm actually 
  13. backing up.  I know I can determine the _number_ of files I've backed 
  14. up and how long it took, but I want to know how many blocks (or 
  15. megabytes) was actually backed up.  This would give me an indication 
  16. of when it is time to start looking at higher capacity, an auto-
  17. changer mechanism, etc.  Right now I'm just looking at the new tapes 
  18. and trying to figure out how far into the tape it got by the 
  19. smoothness of the media on the reel.  Not scientific at all.
