- I strongly recomend the TI-81. It is around $70, and is much easier to use
- than the Casios. Beyond that, in my expericnce, the TI-81 is more powerful
- (has more features) and is faster than all Casio graphers, with the possible
- exception of the CASIO 8000 which I have yet to see.
- The TI-81 also has more memory than any of the Casios I've seen. (2400 bytes)
-
- The TI-85 has 32k and is even more powerful then the 81 (99 equations stored in
- equation buffer, all individually traceable, complex number support, plus lots
- o' other stuff, but it costs closer to $120. Still, it might be worth it, but
- the 81 fits all my needs. (Although 2400 bytes is awful tight for writing
- games. I still managed to write Tic-Tac-Toe, Flag Capture (remember on the
- Atari 2600?) and a miniature version of Scorched Earth for my TI-81
-
- But I doubt writing games for the calculator is your highest priority...:)
-
- Of course, the HP48SX still blows both of the TIs away, but we're talking
- closer to $250 for that machine. And it insists on using reverse polish
- notation. (Still, a calculator with 256k ROM OS (the HP, I mean) can do some
- pretty amazing things. "Mathematica in your shirt pocket." Not to mention the
- RAM/ROM card drive and infrared Kermit transfer to other HPs)
