- I have an 11/785 (of which I'm rather fond :-) which is one member of
- our main cluster along with 2 8800s. It has been off maintenance now for
- about 18months and I guess we all expected it to have expired long ago,
- but it has run faultlessly until this weekend. After crashing about 12
- times in as many hours, it has rebooted, but it no longer sees any of
- the peripherals installed in the Unibus.
-
- I spoke to our friendly DEC engineer and he suggested reseating the
- DW780, checking the cables from the SBI to the Unibus cabinet and also
- checking the voltage levels in the Unibus. I have done all this but to
- no avail :-(
-
- I have run the micro diagnostics and get a failure in ETKAR (version 3.3)
- in test 57. The error message is "%TIMEOUT IN TEST 020C PTC=123C". I'm
- sure this means something to someone, but without access to a manual
- it's just a little difficult....
-
- In addition, when the system is booted and running VMS, if I run SYSGEN
- and do a SHOW/CONFIG all I see is the CI and not the DW or the RH that's
- in there too. Does this indicate a DW failure rather than a problem with
- the Unibus box itself?
-
- Any help would be truely appreciated as this 785 was originally
- purchased (as a 780) in 1980, making it one of the oldest VAXes in
- Australia.
