- I have several DEC Scholar Modems (DF224) donated by DEC to a local
- school. Some of them work OK, but others fail to go 'off hook'
- when I send ^A^B to them. I get 'Error' on ^A and 'Ready' on ^B.
-
- Since this seems to be a common failure mode with these units, I'm
- wondering if someone here recognizes the symptom and can suggest
- what component in the modem might be defective. I am prepared to
- take a soldering gun to the boards if there is a reasonable expectation
- of repairing them.
