- I have a broken 128 and I think the 8721R3 (U11) is bad. It will not select
- any of the Kernal PROMS on power up. Can anyone tell me where to get this
- chip and an idea of the cost (mabe?). Also can you tell me what this chip is
- supposed to do. It looks like some kind of memory controller. I do not have
- drawings for the 128 yet, but I have pin outs for the PROM and the 8502 to
- which I have connectad a logic analyzer and I can see the 8502 putting the
- correct address on the bus (FFFC/D) but because none of the PROMS are selected
- no data comes back and the 8502 is lost. (It is not easy to swap out this
- part because it is soldered into the PC board :( so I would rather get a
- new one that I know works, cut out the old chip and put a 48 pin socket at
- location U11 and put the new IC in the socket)
-
- Can anyone recommend any good books on the internal workings of the 128, which
- would include a discription and function of each major IC and a good KERNAL
- PROM map? I suspect these books are few and far between?

- Thanks in advance. Nathan Emanuel
