- Dear netters,
-
- I have a little problem with two SCSI discs on my host adaptor:
- they won't work together with addresses 0 and 1.
-
- Some details: The drives (a ST 157N and ST 296N) are connected to a
- GE-soft adaptor. The first is configured as SCSI device 0, the second
- as device 1. The software is from Digital Systems Krueger (Version
- 3.2). The problem: write access to the first device (the ST157N)
- crashes the FAT and DIR.
-
- Everything works fine if:
- - the drives are used solely;
- - the second drive is configured as #2 or higher.
-
- So I can work with it, but I'm curious: What may be wrong ?
-
- Is it absolutely necessary to remove the resistor packs ? If so,
- which drive ? The physically last or the logically last one (which is
- different in that case) ?
-
-
- Also:
-
- I need to reformat the ST 296N on a low level, since it stems from a
- PC, where it was formatted with interleave 2.
-
- Is there some PD/Shareware/commercial package out to do that for me ?
- I checked AHDI5 but it doesn't. I heard about "SCSI-Tools" from
- Hard&Soft in Castrop-Rauxel, but I don't know if the DM 149.- (~ $100) are
- worth it ? Any experiences ?
-
- Thanks for any hint,
- Thomas.
