  37.                               INTRODUCTION
  38.                               ------------
  39.
  40.      "OPERATION: A.C.T. NOW" is a series of campaigns that will
  41. help increase support for the Atari 8-Bit computers, ST/TT/Falcon
  42. computers, the Portfolio palmtop computer, and the Lynx handheld
  43. video game system.
  44.
  45.      Atari Corporation seems to be serious about the future...
  46. If you would like to help increase support for Atari products,
  47. you can by participate in these campaigns.
  48.
  49.      Who benefits?  Everyone benfits.  Atari users get more out
  50. of their investment, developers sell more products, dealers sell
  51. more products, publishers sell more magazines, and Atari
  52. Corporation sells more products.  If you are a shareholder, your
  53. stock may go up in value.
  54.
  55.      There will be campaigns that focus on increasing suport for
  56. the Atari ST/TT/Falcon and campaigns that focus on increasing
  57. support for the 8-Bit Atari, Lynx, and Portfolio.  The campaigns
  58. that you participate in are entirely up to you.
  59.
  60.      These campaigns will hopefully result in a stronger Atari
  61. Community.
  62.
  63.      If you don't wish to help Atari Corporation, participate in
  64. these campaigns to help yourself.  You will enjoy your Atari
  65. products more by greater support!
  66.
  67.                                 Cost?
  68.                                 -----
  69.
  70.      There is no cost to you in any way to participate in these
  71. campaigns.  There is no registration fee and no donations are
  72. being accepted.
  73.
  74.                         Members Key to Success
  75.                         ----------------------
  76.
  77.      The number of people participating in these campaigns are
  78. extremely important.  The news of these campaigns must be shared
  79. with every member of the Atari Community that you know.
  80. "OPERATION: A.C.T. NOW" should be publicized in Atari publications,
  81. at user group meetings, and at Atari dealerships.  If you take
  82. action, we can make a difference.  If you sit back and watch, we
  83. won't do anything.
  84.
  85.
  86.                          +------------------+
  87.                          |   CAMPAIGN ONE   |
  88.                          +------------------+
  89.
  90.
  91.     The first campaign will be to compile two lists.  One list
  92. will consist of things that we believe the company is doing right.
  93. Atari is doing great things and if you want to continue seeing
  94. the company doing these things, you have to let them know.
  95. The other list will consist of things that we believe the company
  96. can do better.  The company will never know the problems that
  97. you see unless you tell them.  We will send these lists to Atari
  98. Corporation's Board of Directors and ask that they consider our
  99. suggestions.  Will Atari listen?  There isn't a successful
  100. company around that doesn't listen--especially to their customers,
  101. developers, dealers, and publications.
  102.
  103.     What you need to do is write down everything that you see
  104. right with Atari and the things that you believe the company can
  105. improve.  Include any past experiences that you have had with
  106. the company.
  107.
  108.     Here are a few examples:
  109.

  142.                                                    new info to us
  143.
  144.     The comments made in these examples should not be taken as truth.
  145. They are simply examples.  Also, your comments can be as long as you
  146. want.  In fact, the longer and more detailed, the better.
  147.
  148.     If you wish to remain anonymous, you may send these lists in
  149. another envelope.
  150.
  151.     The goal of this campaign is to inform Atari of things that we
  152. believe can help improve the company's position in the computer
  153. marketplace.
  154.
  155.     All of the lists that are received will be compiled and then sent
  156. to Atari Corporation.

  161.                          +------------------+
  162.
  163.     The second campaign is to concentrate on letting computer
  164. publications know that Atari is back.
  165.
  166.     The Falcon 030 will be announced at the Boston Computer Society
  167. meeting in a few weeks.  We should let the media know that we would
  168. like for them to cover it.  The amount of press the Falcon receives
  169. will most likely determine when the Falcon will be shipped to the
  170. United States and how many are shipped.
  171.
  172.     What you need to do is list names and addresses of publications
  173. that you wish to see cover the Falcon's release.  These include
  174. magazines, newspapers, and televison news programs.
  175.
  176.     You should also lists computer publications that you wish to

  178.
  179.     This information should be sent along with the "OPERATION:
