- In a previous article, cse0070@uoft02.utoledo.edu (bk@beer.heaven.bar) says:

-
- Sure. I use Frank Ridderbusch's port of TeX 3.1 and MetaFont 2.7. In case
- you don't already know, TeX is a phototypesetting program and MetaFont
- generates the fonts you can use in TeX documents. Both were developed by
- Donald Knuth at Stanford University and are free. They are available from
- atari.archive in the 'tex' subdirectory.
-
- TeX generates DVI files as output, which can be previewed on the Atari's
- screen or converted for printing into PostScript, PCL (HP LaserJet uses
- this), etc. Especially with the LaTeX macros, TeX makes a very usable word
- processor and the price is right! The drawbacks are that TeX eats up a few
- megabytes of disk space, the setup is quite involved and you must compile
- your document each time you want to see what your output will look like (no
- WYSIWIG here!). Also, you should get a book on how to use TeX and/or
- LaTeX, since they are sophisticated. Once you get set up, it's a powerful
- system though and you will be pleased with what you can do.
