-
- I have to say:
-
- If you buy a mac, don't get a Classic II, what you get is:
-
- A 32bit 68030 crammed into a 16 bit bus that must run system 7 and "feels"
- slower than virtually any computer I've ever used (they are slow enough
- to drive me nuts, you can't tell the speed diference between this and the
- original Mac Classic which ran on a 68000!)
-
- 4 Megs ram (ok, so, you're right...)
-
- 40 meg Hard drive (right again...)
-
- One hell of a shitbox keyborad, this little thing sucks (kinda like the 1040).
-
- 1 Itty bitty (512*384) monochrome not-so-high-rez extremely poor monitor. The
- Classic series do not use the same monitor as the older Macs, and it
- sucks. It has extremely poor contrast and sharpness...
-
- For midi I believe you still need additional hardware...
-
- Games on the Mac suck, period, especially the monochrome games. As an
- indication, the Quadra we had would run 10 frames a second animation using
- quick-time at about 300*200 pixels, note, this is on a QUADRA 900 (68040). My
- old lowly ST will run 30 frames a second (I time it!) at 320*200. Macs suck at
- video updating, and games require it. So far every single mac game I've seen
- has been incredibly slow and boring, except Shufflepuck Cafe, but the ST
- version is still far better!
