- Hmm, well, in the words of Treebeard, let's not all get hasty!
-
- Perhaps we should call for input from those who depend on the digest,
- to tell what they think of all this. I think there are those, like
- Dawn Scotting, who have to really watch how much mail comes their way,
- as they pay for it. I know that when I get really long digests, or AEO
- posts, I sometimes have serious problems getting rid of the darn thing.
-
- Why is this so? Even if I tell my mailer to delete it, it has
- to twice as much space as my UNREAD mail file takes up. Often I've had
- to spend hours Kermitting files off of my account, just so there is room
- for the mailer to erase large digests and AEO issues. The Consultants are
- fairly helpless about my room shortage, and won't give me more breathing
- room in my account to alleviate the problem.
-
- I am wondering, if the program that creates the digest has source code
- available, if it would be possible to omit C.S.A.8 posts that have
- a zzzz in the subject line. That way, the binary files would appear in
- c.s.a.8., but not in the Digest echo of it. I think the person responsible
- for creating the digests needs to respond to this idea. If it's not
- possible or feasible for one reason or another, that is fine. At least
- we explored the idea.
-
- True, comp.sys.atari.8bit and the Digest aren't perfect, but for most of us,
- they are FREE, so let's not get too worked up about all this, and try to get
- along.
