- No No NO. Please don't send any money to subscribe to the publication
- right now. It will only gum up the works.
-
- Right now the priority for the Atari Classics staff is the premiere
- issue. This goes out free of charge to all who send their names
- into Ben Poehland, or who responded to the campaign earlier this year.
-
- Atari Classics is not currently accepting paid subscriptions, and will
- not do so until October 12, 1992.
-
- Please keep in mind there is a bit of risk involved. The premiere
- issue is being sent to people for FREE. A subscription form will
- be included with the magazine. If you like what you see then you fill
- out the subscription form, and include the indicated amount for
- the price of the subscription, and optionally, a disk.
- Atari Classics is COUNTING on receiving 500 subscriptions from those
- who have received the magazine. The cost of the magazine, frequency,
- and format of the magazine is based on 500 subscriptions being received
- for the publication. If fewer than 500 subscriptions are received,
- then there is no guarantee the subscribers will receive 6 issues
- per year as indicated in all previous press releases. If only a very
- few subscriptions are received, the publication may sputter along
- for several months and then die. If Atari Classics dies, there will
- be no refunds. There were 615 positive replies to the campaign
- and additional positive response from those who weren't able to
- participate in the campaign. Based on this, I am confident that you 8
- bitters will like what you see, and stand behind your statement on
- your cards stating that you will subscribe. I have no doubt that
- Atari Classics will receive more than 500 subscriptions, and
- that it will become the leading magazine for the Atari 8 bit community.
-
- Please be patient, and let things develop at a pace that the Atari
- Classics staff can handle. We're all part-timers and amateurs
- and after only only a few weeks in operation, the publication
- machinery is only beginning to take on a rough form.
- As time progresses, the Atari Classics staff will begin to operate
- more like a fine tuned engine, and be able to set and meet the required
- deadlines. So keep those subscription checks in hand until October 12,
- and give Atari Classics a little more time to assemble itself.
-
- For those of you who are thinking of attending the WAACE Fest on
- October 10 and 11. Ben Poehland, managing editor of Atari Classics,
- has made plans to attend and be present in the Unicorn Publications
- booth. We hope to have copies of Atari Classies at the show to
- distribute, and Ben will be taking subscriptions at that time.
- The mailing of the premiere issue is tentatively scheduled to take place
- the last week of October, and it will include the subscription form
- as mentioned above.
-
- So hang in there, be patient, and keep your fingers crossed.
- If you get a chance, stop by the Unicorn Booth at the WAACE show and
- say "HI" to Ben and take a gander at a magazine that could really
- breath new life into the 8-bit scene.
-
-
- Now I have to go and finish up my first installment of "Moonlight
- Workshop"... see you in Atari Classics!
