- The other day I was trying to come up with a way to protect the
- GS from the unfriendlies (i.e. my roommates who think clones running
- Windows 3.1 is the end-all, be-all of personal computing...),
- and I came upon the discovery...
-
- None of them works anymore, at least not with System 6.0!
-
- Okay, before I start a major panick spell, let me explain:
-
- I've used the StartPass init from Guy T. Rice (sp?), and it works.
- I've also used LockOut NDA by Roy LeCates, it works too.
- Just for the heck of it, I tried SoftLock from GS+ magazine, and
- no surprise there, it works too.
-
- BUT...
-
- If you press <shift> at the startup time, all DAs and Inits will NOT
- be loaded, leaving the system (MY SYSTEM!) vulnerable to nosy heads
- and sticky fingers... not a pretty picture...
-
- So: Does anyone know of a gizmo for the GS that will protect the
- GS at startup, with or without the <shift> key being pressed?
- (short of pulling out the 65816, or taking the ADB cable connector
- with me :)
-
- Thanks in advance.

- slept in close to 36 hours now...)
