- I'm not particularly satisfied with the Zip Chip I just
- received.
-
- First, it sits up too high off the socket so that I can't plug
- the card I run in Slot 3 of my //e (CardZ180) back in.
-
- I decided to check it out without the CardZ180 installed. I expected
- it to couse trouble with the No-Slot Clock, so I was fooling around with
- the <ESC> option to force slow mode on startup. I hadn't even gotten to
- the point where I could have gotten the config software up and running
- when after a re-boot procedure, the chip flaked out on me. All I get is
- a screen full of inverse @'s and the checkerboard characters. I hear the
- little chirp from the speaker but nothing else. OA-CTRL-RESET does nothing
- except produce the little chirp for about the first three times I try it
- then nothing.
-
- Since I just received it, I will call Quality Computers (where I ordered it)
- to try and get some satisfaction.
-
- I think what I REALLY want instead of the ZipChip is a genuine 65802.
- Anyone know where I can get one of these chips? The hardware/software
- system I use would make that processor more advantageous than an
- accelerator. Remember, that's 'sixty-five EIGHT oh-two'.
-
- Thanks for listening to my gripe.
