- I picked up an Apple II+ w/ 48k, single disk drive, parallel
- card, and monitor this summer. (It was so cheap I couldn't
- pass it by). I recently added a second disk drive I got for
- a song. Anyway, I hadn't messed with Apple IIs since
- junior high so I've been catching up. I bought a copy of
- InCider yesterday so I know some sources for Apple II stuff,
- but I still have lots of questions.
-
- First of all- is there a comp.sys.apple2 FAQ sheet?
-
- Second, what are the best sources for the following
- hardware:
-
- "experimenter" (blank or breadboard) cards
- an 80 column card
- a 16k language card
- a serial card
-
- Furthermore, what is out there in terms of additional memory
- expansion and hardware accelerators? Though my gut feeling is that
- they're not worth it on a II+ unless you really really want
- or need them, what kind of performance increases are we talking
- about?
-
- Just out of curiosity, are there SCSI cards out there that work
- with the II+? I guess the more general question is "What are
- the issues involved in cards working on a II+, IIe, or IIgs?"
- I'm aware of the compatability issues in software.
-
- What documentation is still available in print for the system, and what
- is the best source?
-
- Can I run ProDOS before I get my fingers on a language card?
- What is absoulute "must have" freeware?
- Is there a free or inexpensive word processor I can use with my machine?
- How do I tell if software on the archives will work on my machine?
- Is there software for IBMs to read and write Apple II 5.45" disks?
-
- Thanks
