  18. The RF is the fastest, also it can DMA to non-DMA compatible memory (read:
  19. 8MB cards, or old cards) if no TWGS is in the system. The Apple SCSI card
  20. does not use DMA, is slow and does not benefit of all drivers: Forget it.
  21. The Apple HS SCSI card uses DMA, is not as fast as the RF, but has a more
  22. flexible driver concept. So, if you need to connect a Scanner or such,
  23. you are (at the moment) better off with the HS SCSI than the RF.
  24. If you just want a HD or two and a tape for backup purposes, go with
  25. the RF. Get a Rev.D 256k or a "refurbished" Rev.C ... the latter costs
  26. only $100, I believe, but is bigger than the Rev.D and not upgradeable to
  27. 1Meg cache (though many people claim the the extra cache does not speed
  28. up execution).

  33. Should be. 4MB cards are easy to do. A good card adheres to the rules (all
  34. newer cards do) and is therefore DMA compatible and, of course, is
  35. mechanically OK. So, apart from _very_ old cards AE once did, all of
  36. them should be just fine.
