- Epson-compatible printers are icky...you can't get a 72x72 or 144x144
- dpi matrix out of 'em for graphics. I tried plugging one into my
- computer once and printed some stuff with SuperFonts...the output was
- stretched out because the closest that Epsons and clones come is 60x72
- or 120x144 (?) dpi. I would never consider an Epson/clone for any
- Apple computer (II or Mac). They're a little more usable on IBMs and
- their clones, but I'd prefer PostScript or HP compatibility over Epson
- compatibility.
-
- Also, the interface matters little. Your printer can only go so fast.
- Mine (an Imagewriter) runs at no more than 120 cps...a 1200-baud
- serial connection would be fast enough for text. I run mine at 9600,
- which is fast enough for any print job you can throw at it...whether
- it's printing graphics or text, the computer always tries to outrun
- the printer.
