- I'm interested in knowing if we can print to a postscript printer
- which has an ethernet interface using our current Apollo network
- configuration. We're using Domain/OS 10.3.5 on DN3/4/5xxx machines as
- well as a few 425T (SYSTYPE=sys5.3, we wouldn't mind changing if need
- be). All of the machines but one are on the token ring and we do
- have a token ring/ethernet gateway in place.
-
- Let's say for the sake of argument we purchase an HP IIIsi with an
- ethernet interface to service our PCs running LANMAN. Eventually (as
- we turnover the DN machines to HP 700s) our workstation environment will
- be able to access the same printers, however I am curious if we can make
- use of this feature today. I know you can setup remote printers in the
- BSD environment using printcap files, but those printers are still
- hanging off a machine via RS-232 or parallel interface. What about a
- standalone printer? How do you get to it?
