- Well, today I grabbed the Oberon compiler demo from the Fred Fish archive.
- It was the limited version of release 1.16. I was very, very impressed
- with the code generation (based on the demos I ran and the compactness of
- the code, not to mention the cleanness of the source). I also like the fact
- that Oberon is object oriented and has class structures for Amiga hardware
- support included with it. No wonder Oberon is such a popular language among
- German Amigans!
-
- OK, so here's the problem: I don't know whether to contact the company in
- Switzerland which carries it, or the company in Australia which carries
- the English version. I do know some German, but I'd prefer to see compiler
- messages in my native language. :-) I don't know what current prices are
- like. I need a better language reference manual. I need to know how good
- the support for Amigados 2.x is. How do I go about legally obtaining a copy
- of Oberon with full manuals and everything?
-
- Considering the sorry state of C++ on the Amiga (Comeau is good I hear but
- does not have special classes for Amiga graphics), I think Oberon may be the
- only serious option for me for OO software design.

- How about some more information about this Oberon? Seeing you're posting
- from Germany I hope there would be English versions.
