- Agreed. And this is not intended as a slash against the talent as SAS.
- Writing any compiler, not less a C++ is not an easy task, even if it is
- built from a C compiler. In fact, building a C++ from a C compiler has
- as many minuses as plusses. (Note: I have no insider information about
- how SAS might be approaching the design of a C++, if indeed they are
- even doing so, I'm just trying to radiate that even with the best of compiler
- teams, things just plain old take time). Speaking from experience:
- a commerical full implementation of C++ will take over 1 year (and that's
- minimum, and just the compiler).
