  27. Strange.  I've had the same problem with my brand new Maxtor LXT340 drive.
  28. It has done exactly that a few times for the past days.  I've been low level
  29. formatting it, checking for bad blocks high and low, and I've used
  30. Quarterback Tools for checking for checking files (and bad blocks again, in
  31. case my formatter was wrong).  And I've come up with *nothing*.  QBT fixed
  32. the problem but said my root block had a bad checksum and that it was a "very
  33. bad problem".  Sure sounds so.

  35. Ten minutes ago, I read about somebody with an A1000 and a Quantum drive (?),
  36. having a problem very similar to ours.  I don't want to be paranoid and say
  37. "virus", but isn't it very strange indeed?
