- In today's mail I received a 100 page catalog from an outfit called
- CD ROM, Inc., 1667 Cole Blvd., Suite 400, Golden, CO 80401 USA.
- They sell an enormous number of CD ROMs of all description ranging
- from $40 disks of clip art to scientific, political, geographical,
- medical, and legal CD ROMs ranging in price all the way up to
- $10000 (yes.. ten thousand dollars) and higher.
-
- They devote a few intro pages in the catalog to a section called
- "What is..." where they "explain" the different disc formats,
- mfrs, and such. This is their entry under CDTV:
-
- Quote
- Commodore has announced a joint effort with Mitsui & Co. to form
- a compact disc television CDTV consortium in Japan. Its purpose
- is to recruit Japanese companies to develop software and
- other products for the CDTV platform. CDTV is a stand alone
- unit for the home television set and is CD-ROM based.
- The proprietary hardware and software has been available
- since March 1991 with 50 titles. Early this year the
- titles are expected to number 107. This unit is in direct
- competition with CDI and is NOT compatible. It is hard to find
- a retail outlet that carries it."
- End of Quote.
-
- This was the only mention of CDTV I could find anywhere in the
- 100 page catalog. They don't list any CDTV titles for sale at all.
