  23. A good practice (that I've followed religiously for years) is:

  25.    The computer should be the LAST thing turned ON.
  26.    The computer should be the FIRST thing turned OFF.

  28.  This will minimize any spikes on the computer's sensitive chips.  I've read
  29. several ideas on which order the other peripherals should be turned on/off, but
  30. I'll leave that up to your judgment.

  32.  Naturally, turn off all equipment before plugging in (or removing) any cables
  33. or devices.

  35.  Some may say, "I've unplugged several items with the power on, and never
  36. had any problems!", but why take chances?  It only takes minimal effort to
  37. follow these precautions, and it will probably prevent a trip to the repair
  38. shop.
