- Have you ever noticed that the Amiga crowd is a unique one?
-
- There is no other platform where one gets to bash, ridicule,
- applaud, whine, snivel, grovel at the engineers who created the
- machine you type on, and still have them come back, unoffended
- and post intelligent replies, to what seems at times to be the
- most unintelligent bunch of hicks in the entire comp.sys newsgroups.
-
- What surprises me most however is that Marc Barrett let the
- world know he has a friend. One can only wonder at strangeness
- of the Universe. The mind boggles at the concept. But then again,
- Dan Quayle actually made it to VP.
-
- One other rambling before I head off to slumber...
-
- Looking at the picture of the A4000, I was wondering where the
- custom chips were mounted. The machine appeared to look like this:
-
- Front View
- +--------------------------+ A=Drive Cage
- | B> =| | B=Card Slots
- | B> =| +-----+| C=CPU Board
- | C> ______| +-----+| D=Backplane
- +----------+---------------+
- ^ ^
- D A
-
- It appeared that the design allows for the upgrade of the backplane.
- My questions are: Is this going to be the future upgrade path for the
- 4000? Will I be able to migrate the CPU board and drives into a 4000T
- box that contains nothing but a modified backplane, and larger power
- supply? (Sort of like the Hi-Q Tower, but better.)
-
- Where are the Custom Chips mounted? CPU board? Backplane, Or did I miss
- something in the cheesy photo (Thank You, to the photographer!), that's
- my only source of contact with what may prove to be a wonderful machine.
-
- Of course, all of this may be a dream, and the only way I'll find out if
- it's a reality is when =MB= gives me the obligitory snub. *Sigh*

- p.s. PLEASE reply to the list, or to PERSONAL_09@Ecl1.Uri.Edu. My account
- administrator has decided to purge this account for a brief amount of
- time, and I may not get your reply! Or you could get lucky.....
-
- p.p.s. Say 'Hi' to my cat, as he loves the flashing screen generated by
- the GURU messages I get from this ^&*(%&^*(& Term program! Sigh.
