- Doubtful. If I understand correctly, the 68000 is also surface mounted.
- So replacing it is not a solution, at least it would not be practical
- cost wise, as you'd probably damage quite a few of the things to get one
- right, if you could do it at all...

- But this is still true. The computer is cheaper, offers the same performance
- as an A500. Gives the ability of easily, and fairly cheaply adding a hard
- drive. Why just last spring I found a 20 Meg 2.5" IDE drive at a swap
- meet that I could have had for $80.
-
- I really can't think of anything that I would ever want in a cheap PC that
- cannot be done with the A600. If I wanted a Video Toaster, I'd buy an A2000.
- If I wanted PC emulation, I'd just buy a PC, it's cheaper anyway.
-
- The A600 gives you the ability to add RAM and a harddrive. This is good
- because it might finally bring the baseline Amiga in line with the rest
- of the world, and include a harddrive as a standard option.
-
-
- Now if Commodore can just come out with a mid-priced model, say maybe a
- 16 Mhz 68030, or 68020 even priced around $1200 with a monitor and harddrive.
- Oh well, we is dreaming...
