  11. Hello, folks of the Amiga world !

  13. I've recently started fiddling around with FTP'ing programs, and I've
  14. got a few questions about where to find some things.
  15.  
  16. I'm FTP'ing from SUN-Unix and then transferring to Amiga via DOS-disks.
  17. That part works just dandy, but I've got a little lharc-problem. The
  18. lharc I'm using came from wuarchive in the /archive-directory and works
  19. on Unix, so I'm lharc'ing the files before transferring to DOS-disks.
  20. That's also okay, I prefer it that way to lharc'ing on the Amiga.
  21. BUT that lharc doesn't work on all files I find - only about 1/3 of
  22. them. The rest I get the message: "Sorry, cannot extract that method."
  23. So now I've got following questions :
  24.  
  25. -  Where can I find another lharc that'll take all the files ?
  26. -  What's the difference between .lha and .lhz files ?
  27. -  Are the any other widely used archivers that I should have
  28.       before entering the world of FTP and PD ?
  29. -  Which archiver is used on the Fish-disks ?
  30.  
  31. Secondly I've got a few questions about the whereabouts of some programs
  32. and other things I'm interested in :

  34. -  Are there any sites you can recommend as having many interesting
  35.    things in it ? (I'd appreciate answers to this and the other ques-
  36.    tions giving the site number as well as the name, thanks. As in:
  37.    wuarchive.wustl.edu - 128.252.135.4 - /systems/amiga dir. )

  39. -  What's the number of the most recent Fish-disk ?
  40. -  Which site has got the most recent Fish-Disks ?

  42. -  Could Anyone recommend me a good PD wordprocessor ?
  43. -  And tell me a site to find it ?

  45. -  I'm doing a bit of Desk Top Publishing using Professional Page
  46.       (so far just version 1.2) and I'd like some Clip-Art collections.
  47.    -  Can you recommend any good collections ?
  48.    -  Also perhaps some good collections in matrix (for example for
  49.       Deluxe Paint use) ?
  50.    I'm interested in a wide variety of themes, including general topics.
  51. -  Of course I'd also appreciate sites, where I can find these collec-
  52.    tions (PD naturally).

  54. -  Lastly, what's the best PD-program for reading DOS-disks on the Amiga?
  55. -  Is there any PD-program similar to CrossDos ?
