- Well, here is some *true* info, no rumors....
-
- The AA Chipset IS a reality, highest resolution is 640x512x256 (Pal) and
- 640x480x256 (NTSC). These new chips willl *ONLY* go into the NEW Amigas and
- will not go into A500/1000/1500/2000/2500/3000. The new Amigas will be shown at
- the World of Commodore in California (starting the 11th of Sep), so if you want
- to see'em, be there! Now supposedly these new ones will be 68020/030 models
- only, no more 68000 which is good news. Still the same ole 8 bit sound (sigh,
- not like our sound is BAD but 16 bit would be nice for pros). What does this
- mean? Well, pretty much that all other Amiga will be obsolete in the future. If
- we (The current Amiga users) can't use the new chipset and we HAVE to buy one
- of the new Amigas to get that chipset, well.. You can figure it out. So unless
- they come out with a new CDTV too (No plans on it according to Commodore) CDTV
- will also be dead (not like it was really going anywhere anyway which is REALLY
- a shame, it could have been so much). So what to do now... I imagine
- programmers will still be writing software for the current line of Amigas for
- quite some time so we don't have to worry about it dying immediately, but give
- it a couple years.. Just look at what happened tothe C64, its just now really
- starting to die. What it WILL mean is that the current Amiga prices will drop
- tremendously because the will want to get rid of them.. Guess we'll just wait
- and see.
