- Greetings. Just got my suprafax (v.32bis) today and am having a few problems...
-
- FIrst off, my setup is: A500 w/ 2.04 ROMs, GVP Series II (105Q + 4 megs RAM).
-
- Ok, I'm having no problem with 2400 baud connections and all v.32 connections
- seem to work as well. However, am having a devil of a time connecting to
- v.32bis (supra no less ;-) ) systems. I'm using JRComm -- what should I set
- the baud rate in JR-Comm to? (right now I have it at 9600 'cause 19.2K
- didn't seem to go across too well for v.32bis connections) Next, I have the
- serial port configured to 19.2K with RTS/CTS on. However, while the modem
- flashes 14.4K, any transfers still hover around the 930 cps mark... (thus
- I presume that while the modem is connected at 14.4K the transfer from the
- modem to my Amiga occurs at 9600 baud... is this correct?)
-
- Next, I find that I can't consistently connect to the Excelsior Support BBS at
- all :( ONce in a while I'll get a 9600 baud connection, but that's about as
- exciting as it gets and *only* if I set &d1 (I find it kinda annoying that I
- have to turn the modem off in that mode though .. though maintaining the
- connection is definitely a bonus... is there a way to make the escape
- sequence (+++) while in &d1? Never works for me).
-
- Lastly, how big a prob is overheating? After about 4 or 5 hours of
- operation, my modem is *quite* hot to the touch... this is for my BBS and
- I'll be running it 24 hrs/day. Anyone having the same prob/concern? Is it
- "normal" for it to get that hot?
-
- Thanks for any help.
