  12. Hello,
  13.   This past weekend I installed a second Hard Drive to my 2090 controller.  The
  14. first HD is an ST506 (I believe I got that right) drive, and my new HD is 
  15. SCSI.  Anyway, when I tested out my SCSI drive, I disconnect my old HD first.  
  16. Then the LED on the front of my A2000 lit up all the time, even when I wasn't 
  17. accessing the HD.  Then after I tested out the new drive, I hooked-up my old 
  18. drive to the 2090 as well as the new drive.  Now my LED only comes on when I'm
  19. accessing the ST506 drive.  It won't come on at all when I'm accessing
  20. the SCSI drive.  My LED is connected to the controller, so I would think that
  21. it would come on when any of the HD's were being used.  When my old drive was
  22. the only HD hooked-up to my controller, the LED came on when it was supposed to
  23. and went off when it was supposed to.  Also to top everything off, 
  24. now when I reboot, I don't always completely boot-up.  Sometimes I just
  25. get a blank (white or light grayish) screen.  If I shut the Amiga down, and
  26. power it back up, it boots fine.

  28. So my questions are:

  30.   A)  Why did the LED stay on all the time, when the SCSI drive was the only 
  31.       HD connected?
  32.  
  33.   B)  Why won't the LED come on at all when I'm accessing the SCSI drive, with
  34.       both types of drives hooked-up.  Yet it does come on for the older drive?
  35.  
  36.   C)  Why can't I reboot properly?
  37.  
  38.   D)  Can I mix different HDs on the 2090, or do they ALL have to be SCSI, or
  39.       do they ALL (2 of them) be ST506?

  41. The LED may be a simple point, but the new drive is real silent and I can't
  42. tell when it's being accessed.  My old drive sounds like an airplane taking
  43. off, so there's no doubt when it's being used.  If worse came to worse, I'd
  44. rather have the LED work with the new HD and not with the old one.  Not the
  45. other way around.

  47. Also, when I become rich & famous I'd like to buy a better HD controller for my
  48. A2000.  Do most other controllers (like GVP, etc.) allow you to format the
  49. first partition under FFS?  I presume this is just some strange joke from C=
  50. when they designed the 2090 & 2090A to have their first partition formatted
  51. under OFS.
