- No, it is not silly to compare the Amiga to the Mac. Both machines use
- the same processor. Both machines were designed from the ground up to
- integrate a GUI into the native architecture/OS. And the main reason for
- comparing the two is the fact that the machines are only made by 1 company.
- PC prices will always be lower, because everyone makes them. Apple is a
- gigantic company and only charges completely outrageous prices because they
- have
- condiditoned their customers to expect high prices. Commodore by comparison
- is a very small company that just introduced a machine with the same level
- of technology as the Quadras, for 1/3 of the price.
-
- So SVGA can do 16 colors in 800X600 or 1024X768, the new AGA chipset can
- do 256,000 in *ANY* resolution--up to 1200X400. Plus, the hardware is
- designed around the AGA chipset, so the throughput of the machine is better
- than what can get by using an SVGA card.
