- Actually, top DTE of the modem is 57600 bps. That's what I have my serial
- port locked at. (Of course I am running it on an A3000...;-)

- I'd recommend an init string of AT&F2S11=50S95=47.
-
- &F2 - Resets modem to factory defaults. (starts off with a happy medium)
- S11=50 - Speeds up dialing.
- S95=47 - Enable _ALL_ extended connection messages.
- CARRIER xxxxx = DTE Speed. (Computer to Modem speed)
- PROTOCOL: = Type of Error Correction.
- COMPRESSION: = Type of Compression.
- CONNECT xxxxx = DCE Speed with /ARQ appended if error correction
- enabled. (Modem to Modem speed)

- This was because the modem has ATW0 set as default. This reports CONNECT
- xxxxx as your DTE speed. (Computer to Modem speed)
-
-
- Quite a nice little modem. I've had mine since April of this year. One of
- the first ones in this area.. I've had tons of time to use the modem so
- that init string above is the one I've found best for BBS's.
-
- In my terminal program (JR-Comm) I set the dial prefix to
- AT&F2L2&D1%E1S1150S95=47DT and have my serial port locked at 57600. I have
- the alternate prefixes as:
-
- #1: AT&F0&C1&D1%E1NS11=50S95=47DT
- #2: AT&F2&D1&E1NS11=50S37=9S95=47DT
- #3: AT&F2&D1%E1NS11=50S37=10S95=47DT
-
- #1 Is what I use for 2400 bps connections. I make sure that my serial
- port is set at 2400 and have Dial Prefix #1 checked. This also works
- for Compression-free straight 4800 and 9600 bps connections. Just set
- your serial port accordingly, and the modem will use the speed that your
- serial port is set at. (I haven't tried anything above 9600 like this...)
-
- #2 Is what I use for forced 9600 bps connections. This is useful for
- calling over _really_ noisy phone lines. (i.e. trying to connect with
- Supra's BBS. ;-)
-
- #3 Is what I use for forced 12000 bps connections. This is useful for
- lines with moderate line noise that cannot reliably handle 14400 bps
- connections.
-
-
- If you'll notice, I make sure that &D1 is set in all my dial strings. This
- allows my modem to remain on line if my machine crashes. I can then just
- reboot and reload JR-Comm, type "ATO" and boom! I'm still on the BBS. I
- _ONLY_ recommend this for calling out, though. Make sure your modem is set
- with &D2 when operating a BBS or a UUCP node.
-
- I hope this helps folks with their Supras. Try not to mess with the &Kx or
- \Nx strings. (At least until the v1.200-G ROMs are available) I have
- found that messing with these settings can really make things difficult for
- people trying to connect to you.
