  13.                    CALL FOR VIDEOTAPE PRESENTATION
  14.      International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence
  15.                              (IJCAI-93)

  17. The biennial IJCAI conferences are the major forums for the
  18. international scientific exchange and presentation of AI research. The
  19. Conference Technical Program of the 13th IJCAI Conference will include
  20. videotape presentations.

  22. A. Submission Requirements and Guidelines
  23.  
  24. This track is reserved for displaying interesting research on
  25. applications to real-world problems arising in industrial, commercial,
  26. government, space and educational arenas.  It is designed to
  27. demonstrate the current levels of usefulness of AI tools, techniques
  28. and methods. 
  29.  
  30. Authors should submit one copy of a videotape of 15 minutes maximum
  31. duration, accompanied by a submission letter that includes: 
  32.  
  33. (1) Title.
  34. (2) Full names, postal addresses, phone numbers and email addresses of
  35.     all authors.
  36. (3) Tape format (indicate one of NTSC, PAL or SECAM; and one of VHS or
  37.     .75'' U-matic) 
  38. (4) Duration of tape in minutes.
  39. (5) Three copies of an abstract of one to two pages in length,
  40.     containing the title of the video, and full names and addresses of
  41.     the authors.
  42. (6) Author's permission to copy tape for review purposes.

  44. Tapes cannot be returned; authors should retain extra copies for
  45. making revisions. Tapes will be reviewed by international referees and
  46. selected for presentation during the conference. The following
  47. criteria will guide the selection:

  49. . Level of interest to the conference audience
  50. . Clarity of goals, methods and results
  51. . Presentation quality (including audio, video and pace).
  52.  
  53. Preference will be given to applications that show a high level of
  54. maturity. Tapes that are deemed to be advertising commercial products,
  55. propaganda, purely expository materials, merely taped lectures or other
  56. material not of scientific or technical value will be rejected.

  58. B. Publication

  60. Abstracts of accepted video will be allotted one page in the
  61. conference proceedings.  
  62.  
  63. In addition to showing the accepted tapes at the conference, copies of
  64. them will be made available at an extra charge to the attendees
  65. during the conference. Copies will also be sold after the conference.

  67. The videotape presentations started at IJCAI-89. Previously presented 
  68. videotapes are available from Morgan Kaufmann as ISBN 1-55860-097-3

  74. C. Timetable
  75.  
  76. (1) Submissions must be received by November 1, 1992. All tape
  77. submissions must be made to the Video Track Chair. Submissions
  78. received after that date will be returned unopened. Authors should
  79. note that ordinary mail can sometimes be considerably delayed and
  80. should take this into account when timing their submissions.
  81. Notification of receipt will be mailed to the first author (or
  82. designated author) soon after receipt.

  84. (2) Notification of acceptance or rejection will be mailed on or
  85. before March 1, 1993. Notification will be sent to the first author
  86. (or designated author). Accepted tapes will be sent directly from the 
  87. Video Track Chair to the conference publisher.

  89. (3) The video's abstract, edited in the format specified in the
  90. acceptance letter, must be received by April 1, 1993. Authors who wish
  91. to update their video can send the revised tapes directly to the
  92. conference publisher by April 1, 1993.
